In ancient astrology texts there are various reading about lord of ascendant and Moon occupying12th house. In Vedic Astrology 12th house is considered bad and inauspicious house ( nash sthan नाश स्थान) as for as worldly matters are considered. It represents foreign land, loss, isolation, Suicide, asylum, spirituality, psychic and mystical side of life i.e. Moksha also. The common result of Ascendant lord in 12th house is that native will be spendthrift, will have no physical and mental happiness “देहाधीश: सपापो व्ययरिपुमृतिगश्चेत्तदा देहसौख्यं ” he will be angry, will live away from his native place, will have mental worries, suicidal tendencies etc. Mansagar says similar things-
द्वादशगे मूर्तिपतौ कटुकवत्कर्मपरोशुभो नीच: /मानो सहगोत्रीभिर्विदेशो दत्तभुक्त नर:
If lord of ascendant occupies 12th house native becomes misdemeanor, hates others, wretched, lives in foreign country ( away from his birth place ) and eats food given by others.
The 12th house is also the house of self- undoing and imprisonment hence native may face both. It is house of loss therefore it brings about losses to the native. Native will not have much of self-confidence and rather suffers from perplexity.
Deh Sukhya ( pleasure, happiness ) therefore no happiness of body (देह ) as a whole because the lord is situated in the house of loss. The siddhant is that if the lord of house occupies duhsthan (mostly 8, 12) then the house will not prosper(भावात्तदीश्वरे सुस्थे भावसम्पन्न चान्यथा). In case of Moon also there will be similar results because Moon is mind, if it occupies 12th house native will be a wanderer. If Moon is in Movable, watery sign and also in airy sign native mostly settles outside of his native place or mostly lives outside of home. It is not a rule that all people born in these sign will settle in distant land, it depends on many other things in birth chart. Ascendant lord’s position in 12th house in the navansha or in the navansha of 9th lord also takes native away from his native place. If Moon is situated 9th, 12th or 8th from fourth house or 9th-8th from 12th lord or 9th lord or aspected by 9th or 12th lord or Moon is in 12 with fourth lord then also Moon takes the native away from his native place. In case of lord of ascendant also similar result is seen. If lord of ascendant is in 12th and conjunct with auspicious planet or is aspected by auspicious planet then it gives auspicious result also. It is also said by many learned astrologers that if 12th lord from 12 house is in Kendra(1,4,7,10) and Trikon (1,5,9) Houses from ascendant or lord of ascendant and is in his own house or exalted or even conjunct or aspected by Jupiter or Venus, then one travels to a prosperous, great and beautiful land. These are general result of lord of Ascendant and Moon in 12th house. Specific result depends on their position in varga chart, nakshatra position and their relation with other related houses and lord of the houses.

Sonia Gandhi was born as Antonia Maino ( born 9 December 1946) in Lusiana a historically Cimbrian-speaking village about 35 km from Vicenza in Veneto, Italy. In 1964, she went to study English at the Bell Educational Trust’s language school in the city of Cambridge. The following year, she met Rajiv Gandhi at the Varsity Restaurant, where she was working as a part-time waitress, while he was enrolled for an engineering degree in the Trinity College at the University of Cambridge. She was 18-year-old student at Cambridge in 1965 when she met Rajeev Gandhi. She married Rajeev Gandhi in 1968 and moved into the house of her mother-in-law and then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. She became Indian citizen and then the head of India’s grand old party Indian National Congress.
Now let’s see her lard of Lagan. In ascendant Cancer is rising whose lord Moon is situated in her 12th house in Gemini and aspected by lord of 9th. Lord of 9th is in 4th house with its lord Venus making a very strong Rajyoga. 4th house lord is also 11th lord which is 12th from the 12th house giving her travel to a culturally rich great land of Bharat. Her 9th house (bhagya) is rising in navansha and Moon is in 10th house (She was born on Monday and Moon is of krishna dvitiya hence strong ) aspected by lord of Navansha. Her yoga karak Mars who is 5th lord is aspecting her 7th lord in natal chart and navansha also who is 12th lord here. Her 12th lord is in 5th house of love affair in natal chart and in Saturn’s star who is aspected by her 7th lord Saturn and 9th lord Jupiter in navansha. In Mercury mahadsha she married Rajeev Gandhi and settled in India.
As described above she became widow and lost her happiness when she reached at 45 years of age. Wherever Lord of 12th sits that house certainly suffers. She lost her love and in Ketu Mahadsha which began in 2012 she lost kingdom. 12th lord is possessed by Ketu.
