Karl Marx (5 May 1818 – 14 March 1883) was a German-born philosopher, economist, political theorist, historian, sociologist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. His best-known works are the 1848 pamphlet The Communist Manifesto (with Friedrich Engels) and the three-volume Das Kapital (1867–1894); the latter employs his theory of historical materialism in an analysis of capitalism, representing his greatest intellectual achievement. Marx’s ideas, theories, and their subsequent development, collectively known as Marxism, have exerted enormous influence on modern intellectual, economic, and political history.
Everyone knows about the Specter he produced which keeps haunting Capitalism since 1848. I read B.V Raman’s reading of Karl Marx’s chart so I thought to re-read it today. In his note he said that if Saturn was not in ascendant Karl Marx would have been a great philosopher. I don’t know what his criteria of a great philosopher was? A philosopher whose thought is haunting entire capitalism and bourgeois philosophies (idealism) for almost 200 years (175 years 6 months 9 days) and changed the world, made several revolutions was not a great philosopher? A planet is said to be strong in his sign, in his mool-trikon sign or in the the sign of exaltation but to Raman it is not strong because it has no digbal!. These south Indian Brahmin astrologers lack eye sight because they are very priestly (mostly Puranic mentality) and conservative.
History calls those men the greatest who have ennobled themselves by working for the common good; experience acclaims as happiest the man who has made the greatest number of people happy.
-Marx, Reflections of a Young Man (1835)
Anyways let’s see his birth chart and try to read it-

Venus Mahadasha was running from this chart, as he mentions it.
Tropical Birth chart from Astro.con data bank and the chart erected by me from it .. from this chart Venus Mahadsha was running at his birth.

In this chart lord of 10th house Mars is not debilitated rather is going towards its house of debilitation (Mars is debilitated at 28 degree Cancer). It is Vargottam and is in opposition and aspected by strong Jupiter in both lagan chart and Navansha. (Raman did not take this in consideration). Jupiter is lord of 2nd and 11th house (MONEY) almost in commanding position and directs Mars accordingly. His Karkansha lagan is Gemini in which Jupiter is 10th lord. Lagan lord is in 12th house with Venus. He lived most of his life outside of his native place working on political economy. In Karkansha lagan Mars is 6th lord aspected by marak Jupiter who has kendradhipatya dosh, his aspect making him ill. Mars being 6th lord in the end of last degree made him sick and mostly gave him stomach problem. Mars is karak of 6th house in Mercury sign vargottam gave him skin problems and boils on skin. In Navansha Libra is rising (9th house) and Saturn-Venus are in Rashi-Parivartan Yoga which means that he was a great man of virtue and a spiritual man (He was born in the Venus dasha and in navansha yoga karaka are in rashi parivartan yoga. Interestingly in Aquarius Venus is Yogakarak and in Libra Saturn is Yogakarak.). It makes his chart very powerful. He was in fact born as a mahapurush to do loka-kalyan (betterment of humanity). Yogakaraka Venus is in nakshatra parivartan yoga with 7th lord Sun who is exalted in third house of publication hence he was destined to make history through writing. Mars is the third house lord of publication and writing in 5th house ( great virtue, knowledge, higher learning etc.), his Mars major period began in 1844. in Mars-Mercury dasha he published The Manifesto of the Communist Party (21 February 1848). Mars is in Mercury sign and Mercury is almost conjunct with Yogakaraka. In Navansha Mercury is in 7th house of masses aspected by 3rd ,10th lord and 11th lord which makes him world famous. Here important thing is that Jupiter is 11th house and 2nd house lord aspecting Mars the 3rd lord means Friedrich Engels, his friend whom he treated as his younger brother. Friedrich Engels was a wealthy and owned large cotton-textile mills in Prussia and England. He met Marx in 1844 in the beginning of Mars dasha. In Rahu-Venus period which began after Mars was over, he wrote greatest book “Das Kapital” of 19th century in 1867. Rahu is conjunct with Sun-Moon both making it international. If we believe in Uttarkalamrit, Rahu is ‘antyaja’ means lower classes. Rahu is shanivat hence what Saturn represent he also represents. Das Kapital is about the classes represented by both planets. Mars period was not good for health and income for many reasons. “Ucch-nichantarsthsya dasha Syadvrohini..kleshacchubham narah” If a planet is situated in between his sign of exaltation and sign of debilitation, his dasha is called avarohini. It gives suffering (klesh). Another reason is that Jupiter is vipat tara (danger) from lagan and Mercury in whose sign Mars is vargottam is pratyak tara(obstacles). Rahu is Pratyak tara from his Moon and Jupiter is Sadhana. In both ways you can see it. Both are experienced in dasha of Mars, Rahu and Jupiter. A benefic in 6th or 3rd house from lagan Arudha makes one a Sadhu. His Jupiter is 6th from his Lagan Arudha in the nakshatra of Yogakarak, makes him a great Tapasvi. His works “Das Kapital, Grundrisse, A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy, The Poverty of Philosophy etc. are the work of a Tapasvi. He badly suffered from ill health and financial problems yet he worked for the oppressed. The dominance of Venus can be seen in his birth chart. It is because of dominance of Venus, majority of children were girls.

Look at D-10 chart. Here too lagan is vargottam and Saturn and Jupiter are exalted. Mercury is vargottam in D-10 and aspected by 7th lord Sun from 10th house making him world famous. Exalted lord of Lagan is aspecting Jupiter and Venus making him a great political thinker and philosopher. Jupiter being evil is in the nakshatra of Yogakarak in lagan chart hence he gave result mostly of yogakarak . He remained badly ill and died in madhya-ayu at 64 years because he was born on Amavasya day. Moon is eclipsed by Rahu, 22nd Drekkana is of Venus, Rahu is stationed there in his nakshatra. In Drekkana Venus is debilitated in 12th house aspected by Saturn. Jupiter is 6th lord in Drekkan aspected by karak of 6th house and in Navansha Mars is marak, he died in Jupiter-Rahu mahadasha due to bad health.
