Is Bhagavad Gita anti-Dalit ? or Brahmanical ? the issue surfaced again day before yesterday when RSS-BJP Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted the verse inscribed in Bhagavad Geeta chapter 18-44.

कृषिगौरक्ष्यवाणिज्यं वैश्यकर्म स्वभावजम्।
परिचर्यात्मकं कर्म शूद्रस्यापि स्वभावजम्।।18.44।।
कृषिगौरक्ष्यवाणिज्यम् agriculture? cattlerearing and trade? वैश्यकर्म the duties of Vaisya? स्वभावजम् born of nature? परिचर्यात्मकम् consisting of service? कर्म action? शूद्रस्य of the Sudra? अपि also? स्वभावजम् born of nature.
The natural duties of the Vaisyas are agriculture, cattle-rearing and trade. Of the Sudras, too, the natural duty is in the form of service.
स्वे स्वे कर्मण्यभिरतः संसिद्धिं लभते नरः। -18-44
Being devoted to his own duty as distributed above, man attains complete success and also mukti.

On Tweeter people chased him, Dalits and Liberals started abusing him and started calling Modi Brahmanvadi. Himant Biswa Sarma then deleted this tweet in which he emphasized that only work that Dalits can do is serving three upper castes Brahmin, Khatriya and Vishya.

Verse clearly says that service (seva) is natural to Dalits hence Dalit can’t be warriors, Brahmin or Traders, their only work is to serve the three upper castes.
This metaphysical term “born of nature” is based on theory of Samkhya in which nature is consists of Three Gunas, namely Satva, Rajas and Tamas. It has been described in details in chapter 14 also where bondage has been told from Tamas. जघन्यगुणवृत्तिस्था अधो गच्छन्ति तामसाः।।14.18।। Born with Tamoguna in Dalit caste, they are already in hell and will go to hell. Their destiny is fixed.
The varied names and forms are manifestations of Three Gunas. That which is best and refined is product of Sattava and which is inferior is product of Tamas. Since Dalits are product of inferior Guna Tamas, as it dominates in them; they are not capable to obtain knowledge of Vedas, do spiritual work etc. Bondage (दासत्व) is their destiny. Similarly Vaishya is inferior than Brahmin and Khatriya because he is product of mixture of three Gunas in which Rajas-Tamas are dominant. Hence he can do business, agriculture, trade, husbandry etc. He should posses all means of production. They are happy with it because it makes them rich as well as socially powerful (this what is desired in this world). They can own lot of slaves. Khatriya is mostly Rajoguni hence he should rule the kingdom. He is happy with his power and haram. Brahmin is Sattva Guni, he should impart knowledge, teach Vedas and pave the way for liberation of rest of the three caste. He is the most happy because liberation of all the three is in his hand.

This is a typical combination, and philosophically it will not sustain. Whenever you read any Hindu text, you should know to which sect it belongs to. Bhagavad Gita belongs to Vaishnava sect. It is Vaishnava Vedanta text. In Hinduism there are five dominant sects -Vaishnava, Shaiva, Shakta, Saurya and Ganpathya. Shaiva sect or Shakta sect my not regard it as their scripture. In fact, for a long time Shaivas and Shaktas did not accept it as their scripture. Shaivism did not believe in Chaturvanya or four caste system for a long time. It is a mostly Vaishnava construct.

In Bhagavad Gita, the Varna system was cleverly inscribed by Vaishnava priesthood and propagated by Vaishnava Puranas and other popular texts like RamCharit Manas. It may be later insertion. Vaishnava priesthood has been the most clever and cruel in the Hinduism. All cruelty which is prescribed by Manu has been unleashed by the texts of Vaishnava Sect- Ramayana, Vaishnava Puranas mostly Bhagawat Puran and Ramcharit Manas. In Valmiki Ramayana we see how Prince Rama behaves like a Taliban terrorist.
He says to a monkey Bali, ” We are given right by Manu to Punish animals even to establish Manu’s law i.e. dharma. Animal should behave according to the laws of Manu.”
Bali says, “But I am a Monkey. We don’t believe in sister-daughter relationship, we are animal. We do sex with anyone.”
Rama says, “I have punished you because you did not follow the laws of Manu”
Even Animals, you know! Such is spirituality and stupidity of Vaishnavism.

Vaishnavism has been practicing this cruelty on Dalits and other lower castes since ages. Bhagavad Gita philosophically justifies it in the name of God. But Vaishnavism dominates all the four sects because Baniya and Ruler classes propagated it and funded it. The reason why the richest temples are Vaishnava temples. All Baniya are mostly Vaishnava.
